A number of movies have been made on the dollhouses and nearly all of them were appreciated by the critics. Many film directors have found interest in making movies on dollhouses.

Dollhouses are the toy houses that are favorite of every kids. The first instances of dollhouse is evident 400 years ago in Europe. The dollhouses were initially popular only with the kids. But the design of these dollhouses were attracive enough to gain the attention of even the adults. The popular plays of Henric Ibsen namely Ghosts, An Enemy of the People, The Wild Duck, Hedda Gabler and The Lady from the Sea were interesting enough to inspire the film directors. The most popular drama of Ibsen A Doll's House which has an universal appeal was not an exception. This play which gained widespread attention also became a very popular and widely discussed film.

The Anglo Canadian production had Claire Bloom, Anthony Hopkins, Anna Massey, Denholm Eliott and Ralph Richardson in the lead roles. The story which revolves around a doll wife who was forced to adopt forgery when her husband fell ill. Later on she was able to gather courage and come out of her household when ill treated by her husband when he discovered her crime which she committed for the sake of her husband. The play which had feministic tone created much controversy.

Such drama was sure to be a success when made into a film. The film had a number of versions, the first among them being 1973 version. Later on many movies were made on the same storyline in different languages which proves the universal appeal that the drama.

In recent times many television channels have made movies on dollhouses. The most popular of them being the story of A Doll's House by Ibsen which were translated in different languages. Taking inspiration from Ibsen's drama A Doll's House many television movies on dollhouses were made.
